Left picture: This shekere was constructed by Thomas Altmann in the 1990es. The gourd and the (plastic) beads are from California. Red and white are the colors of the deity Shangó. Note the oché motif. The instrument is about 35 cm high and 23 cm wide.

Right picture: This set of shekeres was made by Thomas Altmann in 2001 as a work for the deity Oshún, hence the yellow (plastic) beads. The gourds are from Brazil. The measurements range from 23 cm to 30 cm height.
